Mortal Kombat Ads
The first two Mortal Kombat games are among my all-time favorites but the rest of the series can go scratch. Go ahead, send me hate mail for that statement. I'll delete it right after the ones complaining that I criticized Jack Tramiel for killing Atari somewhere else on this site. For whatever reason that topic seems to upset a lot of people. Look, I understand he's a holocaust survivor and the mastermind behind the Commodore 64 and overall a lot smarter than me. None of that means he didn't kill Atari though.

Anyway, so yeah, remember when Mortal Kombat was good? Remember the days before silliness like auto-combos and battles against comic book characters? I know I sound like an old crank so I'll try to keep it positive (or at least neutral) from here.

Mortal Monday
Mortal Monday
I recall Mortal Monday all too well. It had to be the most hyped video game launch up until then. Ads like this one appeared in every gaming magazine.

Mortal Kombat - Prepare Yourself Ad

Another coming soon ad for Mortal Kombat.

Mortal Kombat home versions
Mortal Kombat - Home Versions
I like the gallery of the home version boxes along the bottom. "Fighting game of the century" is a controversial statement. I mean, Mortal Kombat was great but does it really stack-up against all the amazing fighting games produced from 1900-1984?

Mortal Kombat for Sega CD
Mortal Kombat for Sega CD
Nice looking ad - too bad this turned out to be one of weaker home versions of Mortal Kombat. You'd expect it to be at least as good as the Genesis version but the horrible load times just ruined it.

Mortal Monday II
Mortal Monday II
Here's the Mortal Kombat II version of the Mortal Monday ad. I gotta find a better quality source because this one is a bit mangled.

Mortal Kombat II - Nothing can prepare you
Nothing can prepare you
This looks like an earlier version of the previous ad before they had screenshots or a release date.
